In this blog I will talk about my time in the Phi Phi Islands. I spent two and a half days in Phi Phi. It was really the best part of the trip. The islands are so beautiful and most of the beaches are very clean. To get to Phi Phi, you have to take a ferry for about two hours from Phuket.
After we got off the ferry, there were a bunch of men waiting for us. Each one had a sign that had the name of a hotel on it. We had to find the name of our hotel and wait by that man. We found our hotel's name, and we waited for what I thought would be a car to take us to the hotel. I was wrong. In the main part of the island, there are no cars. A man came with a cart. He pulled our luggage to the hotel. The hotel was actually a little far away from the main part of the island. It was a 10 minute walk, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it was uphill all the way. The hotel was really interesting. It wasn't a luxurious hotel, but it looked like a little bungalow. It was very island-like.
After putting our stuff down, we decided to take a look around the beach. We went to the beach and lied down for a little bit. Then we rented a kayak. We took the kayak to monkey beach, which is a beach that a lot of monkeys live on. The monkeys were a little aggressive. We were OK, because we didn't have food. After that, we went back to the beach and then had dinner. After dinner, we decided to look around at the nightlife. The beach was crazy. There were so many parties and lights and fire. We thought that we were too old for that. We wanted some nice quiet place to relax, so we found a bar on the beach that was very relaxing.
The next day we took a snorkeling tour of the islands. We went snorkeling in a few places, and we also visited some beaches and some other smaller islands. Bamboo island was my favorite because the water was so clean and there was no trash anywhere. However, snorkeling there isn't very fun because there aren't any fish or there isn't any coral.
Because I was out in the sun all day, I got a very bad sunburn. I even had blisters on my back and I felt sick. We call this kind of sunburn "sun poisoning". It is very dangerous and can lead to skin cancer in the future. The last two days of our Thailand trip, I couldn't do anything. I mainly laid in bed all day. I only went out for eating and to get a drink at night. After that, we went home. Overall, the vacation was really fun. I only wish I would have used a stronger sunscreen. If you go to Thailand, I definitely recommend the Phi Phi islands!
