February is a big time in the US for sports. It is the time when the Super Bowl happens. Every year, in February, the Super Bowl is held in a different city across the United States. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in the United States by far. It is probably the most watched event on TV in the United States. Here are some things that Americans do while watching the Super Bowl.
Many people like to have Super Bowl parties. They invite all of their friends over to their houses, and they cook a lot of unhealthy food that they eat during the game. I heard that many people eat over 2000 calories during the football game alone. This is because a lot of snacks that are associated with football are very greasy. They are also very delicious. My family always makes Mexican cheesy beef dip. It is always really good. It is my favorite part of the Super Bowl because I don't really like football.
One of the main reasons that many people who don't like football watch the Super Bowl, is the commercials during the game. These are the biggest commercials of the year, and a lot of companies spend millions of dollars just to air a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl. Usually, these commercials are talked about for a long time after the Super Bowl. They are almost always very funny or very moving.
The other big event during the Super Bowl is the halftime show. Usually one of the year's most popular artists sings and performance during the halftime show. It is a very big performance, just like a concert. There are lots of back up dancers and lights and fireworks.
After the game, in the city where the Super Bowl takes place, a lot of people run through the street and destroy things. They do this because they are so excited, so they want to ruin something. I don't really understand this thinking, and I think it's bad. They break a lot of public property in their celebrations. Is there any sporting event like this in Japan?
