Today I would like to talk about a movie that I saw recently. The movie is called Dunkirk. It is a movie about World War II. It was a great movie but also made me think about a lot of things. The basic storyline is from the battle of Durnkirk, which is a city in France. It is a city that is on the coast, near England. At one point during WWII, the Germans surrounded the French and British troops at Dunkirk. They had nowhere to go, and were basically waiting to die. They asked England to help them, but for a long time, England ignored their pleas and only sent a few ships to help.
The story follows one man who is trying his hardest to get off the beach and get back to England. He has to go through a lot of different obstacles to get back home. This made me think about the current situation in the world today. With the threat of a nuclear attack by North Korea, there is a lot of speculation that if this happens, there will be another world war. I hope this never happens. When I watch war movies, I realize how much soldiers have to sacrifice if they go to war and I also think about if I were in their position, what would I do. I don’t think I would be a very good soldier.
One good reason to watch war movies for some people is that you can really see how these people fought and died and how horrible the conditions were. I think many people who watch feel appreciation that the world today is relatively peaceful. Of course there are exceptions, such as the Middle East and some countries in Africa. If we see these movies, I think it humanizes everyone more, and people want to avoid war again.
But to focus on the movie again, it was really a great story. You could see how some civilians volunteered to help out soldiers and it is a story that also warms your heart. To see people doing selfless acts to help others is something I really like watching. It reminds us that people are good deep down. If you have time, please go and see this movie!
