苔と木に覆われる猿島の人工物

Monkey Island

Recently, I went to a place called Sarishima, or Monkey Island in English. It was really fun, so I want to tell you guys about it.

Sarushima is located near Yokosuka. You have to get off the train near Yokosuka station and then walk to the ferry. The ferry costs ¥1500 for a round trip ticket. The boat ride is about 15 minutes. The island is very small, but you can rent BBQ equipment on the island. I'm not sure if you can purchase meat or other food, so it's best to bring your own. Most people go to the island for BBQs and swimming. It was still a bit cold when I went, so we couldn't swim, but my friend and I decided to explore the island.

The island was used by the military in World War II, so it was interesting to look around. There was also a lot of moss growing everywhere, so the scenery looked a little spooky almost. However, it was beautiful. My friend and I decided to explore the tide pools. There were so many little living creatures in the tide pools, it was interesting to poke around. We found lots of little clams and other things. We decided to walk around the island on the rocks that were around the edge of the island. It was a little bit dangerous, but we got to go to a part of the island where almost no people were. It was very peaceful and nice. I felt like an explorer.

We spent most of the day hanging out around the island and eating delicious BBQ, but the last ferry leaves at 5 p.m., so we had to leave the island at that time. I would have loved to stay longer, but since the island is so small, there are no hotels or places to stay.

I hope one day you can also go to Monkey Island and enjoy a nice day there!
