Since August 12th is Middle Child’s Day, I would like to talk about personalities and siblings. Siblings is English for 兄弟. Of course, you can say “brothers and sisters”, but it is easier to say sibling. In the west, people believe that the order you are born in affects your personality. I think this is very interesting. For example, if you are the oldest child, you will have a different personality than the youngest child. Since I am the middle child in my family, I wanted to see what my personality should be like.
The oldest sibling is supposed to be reliable, obedient, cautious, controlling, and an achiever. In my family, this is very true. My older brother is very controlling and is an achiever. He has the most passion out of the three of us. The reason for this is because the first born child gets all of the attention from parents when they are born. Since they are the first child, parents are very nervous and give a lot of attention to the child. A lot of first born children can be seen in leadership roles at work.
The middle sibling is supposed to be a people-pleaser, a little rebellious, thrives on friendships, has a large social circle, and is a peacemaker. The middle child is well-liked by others. They focus on friendships a lot because they may feel ignored at home, since their parents tend to focus on the first and last child more than the middle child. This describes me very well. Out of my siblings, I am the most social. I like to be with friends a lot and my friends are like family to me. I am also the most rebellious out of my siblings.
The youngest sibling is supposed to be fun-loving, laid back, an attention-seeker, and self-centered. As parents have more children, they become more relaxed. This gives the youngest sibling the most freedom. They can usually do what they want but they are very relaxed. If something happens, they don’t get upset quickly and they go with the flow. This describes my younger brother perfectly also.
