Gun control

Today I would like to talk about a growing issue in the United States. That issue is gun control. As you may have seen in the news lately, the US is having problems with public shootings. It is getting out of control. Recently there have been two big events that have Americans shocked; the Parkland school shooting and the YouTube headquarters shooting. I will talk about these shootings in this blog.

A little while back, there was a shooting at a high school in Florida. Many of the students and some of the faculty died. The shooter was a previous student of the school. He was later apprehended by the police. After the shooting, there was a lot of shock and outrage by the people of the US. However, some of the outrage was because some people were afraid their guns would be taken away. In the aftermath of the shooting, many people called for stricter gun laws in the US. Most first world countries have very strict gun laws, or guns are illegal. In the US, however buying a gun is very simple. Many people, especially younger people in bigger cities, believe that guns should be regulated. However, a lot of people who live in the countryside, or people who just like guns are upset that people want to regulate guns more. They think this will be like getting rid of their guns.

After a lot of arguing and a huge nationwide protest, nothing has changed. There was a massive protest in many big cities across the US and also in DC, where people gathered to say "no more" to all of the mass shootings happening recently. No one should feel afraid of living their daily lives. People, especially children, should be able to go to school or work and feel assured that they will not suffer from an unfortunate event.

Actually a few days ago (at the time of writing this blog), the YouTube headquarters in California was shot up. 3 people were shot and the shooter killed herself. The reason many people think she shot at the YouTube headquarters is that she was a YouTuber who had some of her videos demonetized (meaning she could no longer get money from views) and she was angry.

With things like this happening so often in the US, I really think they should have stricter gun laws. What do you think?
