Today I would like to talk to you all about a movie that is very popular in the US these days. It is popular for a few reasons, but one reason has been making headlines for awhile. The movie is called "Black Panther". It is a Marvel superhero movie. One of the reasons this movie is so talked about is its predominantly black cast. This is something very rare in Hollywood.
This may not be something that many people in Japan understand, but in Hollywood there is a problem with race and movies. Many times, actors chosen for main roles are white. This leaves only smaller roles for people of color. This is something that needs to change, because America is a very diverse place with many races. All races should be represented in films, not just as supporting roles.
The image of superheroes has been very white until now. Heroes like batman and superman are white. This is upsetting for children of color who cannot see someone with their skin color or background in movies.
Black Panther is the first superhero movie to have a mainly black cast, and that is something historic. When it opened, many people rushed to the theaters to see it, especially many African Americans. Many people are finally getting to see black people as strong, good heroes. This is so important, even though you may think it is just a movie.
This is something that has been in the news a lot recently, so I thought I would write a little bit about it. I think the movie is very interesting and has a great story. If you like superhero movies, I definitely recommend it. Please let me know if you watch it!
