Harajuku wedding

This past weekend, I attended a wedding of two of my friends from Tsukuba University. It was my first time attending a wedding in Japan. I had no idea that there were so many rules for Japanese weddings, but I really enjoyed myself.

The wedding was held at a shrine in Harajuku. The bride and groom dressed up in the traditional style. We all went to the shrine and watched the monks give a ceremony to wed the bride and groom. Then we all went to a reception where we had lots of delicious food and watched a video about the couple. My friends and I also made a video and all sent messages to the couple. The bride's family also sang a song and did a performance.

After the reception, my friends and I went to Yotsuya to have our second round. We went to karaoke for two hours and then we had a third round at an izakaya. At the third round, the bride and groom also joined us. It was really nice to meet everyone, because some people traveled from different countries to come to the wedding.

We all met each other when we were around 20 years old and even though a few years have passed, we all hung out and did karaoke and went drinking like old times. It was really nostalgic for me to meet everyone and it was also interesting to learn things about Japanese weddings, especially the way to give money or the proper way to dress.
