Apple Crisp

Spiced Apple Crisp by tomcensani

Fall Food

Today I would like to talk about more fall things with you guys. I want to talk about my favorite fall food! First of all, in the U.S., the biggest flavor of fall is called "pumpkin spice". This flavor really gained popularity because of Starbucks. Years ago, they came out with a pumpkin spice latte. Before that, of course pumpkin flavored things like pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread were popular, but there weren't many pumpkin drinks. Ever since Starbucks released their latte, fall has become synonymous with pumpkin spice lattes.

Actually, I have never tried one of these drinks, but I really want to. However, they do not sell them in Japan. I think Japanese pumpkin and American pumpkin have different flavors so maybe this drink wouldn't be popular in Japan because people are not interested in it.

Another popular dish for fall is anything including apples. One popular drink is apple cider. I think I mentioned this drink in a blog from last year. It is like warm apple juice with cinnamon. My favorite apple dish, however, is called apple crisp. This dish is similar to apple pie, but the crust on top is thicker and sweeter. It is really good to eat with ice cream. I think it may be too sweet for Japanese people though. For Americans it is very delicious.

When I think of apple crisp or desserts like that, I think of home and being with family. It's really nostalgic for me. The last food I would like to talk about is a food that my family always makes for Thanksgiving. I know what you're thinking -- but it's not turkey. It's actually a dish called pineapple ham! This is my favorite food for Thanksgiving. My mother would always make pineapple ham. You take a whole ham and marinate it with brown sugar and pineapple juice. Then you cut pineapple slices and stick them to the ham. Then you bake the ham. It tastes sweet and juicy so I really love it!!

These are my favorite fall foods! What are your favorite fall foods? Please let me know!
