Today I would like to talk about my favorite vacation spot in the United States. I really love a place called Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Gatlinburg is in the middle of the mountains. These mountains are called the Smoky Mountains. The reason they are called “smoky” is because many times (especially in the morning), there is a mist over the mountains, which looks like smoke. I think the scenery during this time is amazing.
There are many things to do in Gatlinburg. You can stay with your family in a cabin. The cabins are up high in the mountains so it is a little difficult to drive up the mountain. However, the view from the cabins is so nice. Sometimes, you can even see bears in the woods around your cabin.
I also love going horseback riding in the mountains. Since you are going up a mountain, you can’t run but it is really fun to ride horses slowly through the trees high in the mountains. You can also go to a huge aquarium called “Ripley’s Aquarium”. I love this aquarium so much. It has many stations where you can pet the sea creatures. This is always really fun. You can even pet stingrays!
There are also some rides and attractions like that on the main road in Gatlinburg. My favorite attraction is the haunted house. It is huge and very scary. The last time I went through it, I was about 14 years old. My younger brother got scared and couldn’t sleep alone for the rest of the vacation.
There is also a small part of Gatlinburg that is designed like a very old town. The road is stone and the architecture of the houses is very old. They sell lots of souvenirs in this area. There is also a very famous pancake restaurant called “The Pancake Pantry” there. It has the best pancakes I have ever tasted. For all of these reasons, I really love Gatlinburg and I hope you all can go there someday.
