Today I would like to write about my recent trip to Korea. I went to Korea from January 18th until the 23rd. As you may know, I used to live in Seoul for about 2 years. I went back to visit my friends and to attend my best friend’s wedding. It was a very exciting trip.
First I went to a place called Sinchon. I stayed with my ex-coworker. Sinchon is the area I used to live in. It was really nostalgic to be back in Sinchon. I ate lots of spicy food, such as deokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and yang nyum chicken (a kind of sweet and spicy fried chicken). It was really nice. I also met some of my friends in Gangnam (a very popular part of Seoul) to have dinner. We had a giant omelet and also some beef.
On Saturday I went to my best friend’s wedding. It was a little bit different from traditional Korean weddings. This is because her husband was in the Special Forces. The Special Forces is a high level group in the military. They had a big event with swords and they made the groom do many different tasks to show his love for the bride. He had to do push-ups and give the bride many kisses. He also had to collect money from his shoe. It was a very fun wedding. I took many pictures and talked to many different people.
After the wedding we all went downstairs to eat. My friends and I ate lots of delicious food and drank soju, a Korean alcohol. It was really nice to catch up with my friends after 2 years. I really missed Korea, but I am happy to be back in Japan.
