The new face of $20 bill

Today I would like to write about something that is very big news in the United States. For the first time, the U.S. will have paper money with a woman featured on it. The $20 bill will change from Andrew Jackson to Harriet Tubman soon. This is also very important for American history. I will explain why.

Andrew Jackson was the 12th president of the United States. He was also a slave owner. He had many slaves while he was president so he also thought that black people were inferior to white people. He also treated Native Americans very badly and killed many of them. Even though he was this kind of person, the U.S. still featured his face on the $20 bill. I think this is a bad thing, because Andrew Jackson was a racist man.

Harriet Tubman will be the new face on the $20 bill. She was an amazing woman. She was a slave who gained freedom and then used her freedom to help hundreds of slaves escape from slavery during the Civil War. She also worked as a spy for the North in the Civil War. She is a very important person when talking about human rights in the U.S. All children learn about how brave and kind she was when we are in elementary school.

Harriet Tubman is also a woman. This is very important because the U.S. has never had a woman on paper currency before. This change shows that women also have a valuable place in society today and that women are equal to men. Since Harriet Tubman was also an African American, this is also great for people of color in the United States. The U.S. has never featured a woman of color on paper currency before either. Overall, this change from a racist, mean man to a woman who helped hundreds gain freedom is a very positive change for American currency.
